Podium Finishes for Switch Pro-Rider Marc Jacobs

Switch Pro-Rider Marc Jacobs is back and on the podium

Coming off a serious knee injury that curtailed his world tour in 2014, Switch pro-rider Marc Jacobs (NZ) has battled his way back into form with podium finishes in 3 out of 3 stops of the Virgin Kitesurf World Championships., 2 in Big Air, and another podium in the Freestyle event.
Formally known as the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association (PKRA) World Tour the Virgin Kitesurf World Championship Tour (VKWC) backed by Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and serial entrepreneur and founder of ZED Javier Perez Dolset, plan to host 9 world class kitesurfing events across the globe this year. Crowning the overall kitesurf world champions (Men & Women’s) in Cape Town, South Africa in December.
A strong recovery has allowed Marc to successfully compete in Dakhla, Venezuela and Tarifa Kitesurf World Championships so far this year.
Dakhla Kitesurf World Championships
Dakhla proved to be challenging for Marc in Freestyle but battling in 25 knots winds and a field of the world’s best riders, Marc's powerful riding style earned him a second spot on the podium in Big Air.
Marc Jacobs: "Just got 2nd in the big air event at the PKRA World Tour pretty happy with the result as I haven't rode like this in a few years. Was good fun flying around with the boys congrats Kevin Langeree on the win!"

Tarifa Kitesurf World Championship
For the latest event Marc traveled to Spain to participate in the 3rd stop of the tour. Strong Atlantic winds looked promising for powerhouse Marc and for the Freestyle they worked in his favour but not so in the Big Air.
Fighting off two-time world champion and tour buddy Youri Zoon (NL) by 1.5 points, Marc progressed to the next heat where he met tour leader Liam Whaley (ES) in the Freestyle semi-finals. Marc stayed focused and powerful in every trick he landed and defeated Liam to advance to the final where he met Brazilian, Carlos Mario. Powerhouse Marc couldn't match the trick list of Mario, which landed Marc his first Freestyle podium finish on tour - 2nd place.

Marc Jacobs: “I’m happy Tarifa delivered the goods I haven’t ridden on my smallest kite since last year in Fuerteventura so was a bit nervous. Luckily I have a new secret weapon the ‘Legacy’, that handles the gusts super well. I couldn’t be happier with the launch of my new c-kite with its amazing slack upwind performance, easy handling and allows me to still handle it being super over powered due to it amazing depower. This kite is already helping me so much with my freestyle on the VKWC tour”
