Why Switch

BUILT TOUGH

We’re powered by the latest technology, using the highest specification materials and equipment available. If it isn’t premium, it’s not Switch. We use solid, proven and tested aeronautical design principles to create true flying machines.
Our products are designed in the lab by engineers, then constructed and detailed in our new high tech assembly plant with best-practice quality control systems.
Nothing is released to the public until rigorous testing has taken place for strength, durability and performance. Our product stands any test against any competitor in any conditions.
We’ve baked it, boiled it, beaten it, burnt it, drowned it, dishwashed it, driven over it, squashed it, crashed into it, hung from it, slept on it, and shot it – repeatedly. But we don’t advise you to try this at home
Our Power Tools are the bomb.
World-class products that we stand behind 110%. Always.
Highest Quality Materials

We don’t dish up any old rubbish. Our products are best-in-class, sourced globally then shipped to our state-of-the-art facility for construction.
CANOPIES - produced from TECHNO FORCE/T9600 – the best rip-stop available worldwide from Teijin Fibers LD. Struts and Leading edges – constructed from Dimension-Polyant Dacron.
SAILCLOTH – Dimension-Polyant Dacron is the only sailcloth manufacturer with its own ultra-modern sailcloth-weaving mill and a unique finishing plant where the fabrics pass through a 14-stage program. Weaving, finishing, laminating – all in one location, made in Germany. Jawohl! It’s the most stable and durable structure that ensures the designed shape is retained for ultimate performance.
LINES – All lines are supplied from French manufacturer Cousin-Trestec, the world’s leading braid manufacturer. Magnifique! Switch lines are made from 100% pure Dyneema braid, pre-stretched twice and woven to a perfect round 1.7mm diameter. With a minimum 3200N minimum breaking strength, these doggies won’t stretch an inch. This gives you a crisp, ultra-responsive, direct feel for your kite.
BAR – constructed from an epoxy/fibreglass/SS316 and T6061 composition. Ideal as it lets us reduce the diameter to 24mm whilst retaining core strength. Quick release and other injection-moulded parts – constructed from premium grade DuPont Delrin.
METAL PARTS – all remaining parts are made from marine grade SS 316, A380 or T6061.
State Of The Art Construction

Switch has an exclusive manufacturing facility with cutting edge, state-of-the-art equipment.
Others pick from a catalogue of available construction options. Not us.
We define every single detail such as seam width, thread size, stitch pattern, testing regime and quality control. This unique set up lets us produce the most superior custom designed Power Tools available on the market. And that’s the way we do it

Fully Glued Construction
Stitching alone doesn’t cut it – we glue, then stitch.

Double Dacron Strut Joints And Valve Positions
All stitching locations on any struts are internally reinforced first with Dacron, then adhesive-backed Mark Cloth to ensure the stitching doesn’t compromise the material. Strut seams are double stitched with a larger thread. Strut attachments are reinforced with webbing and all valve positions have extra reinforcing to prevent blowouts under high pressures and crashes. You don’t want your kite to explode like a paper bag filled with vegetable soup on hard impact. Right?

Framed Canopy
All Switch kites have a fully glued canopy framing of Dacron and adhesive-backed Mark Cloth for extra strength along struts, leading edge, trailing edges and wingtips.

Double Dacron Leading Edge Seam
The Switch LE seam is the strongest on the market. Glistens in the rain like your nose hair after a sneeze. Double-reinforced with Dacron, the LE seam is fully glued, double-folded and double stitched with an exterior webbing cover for ultimate strength and durability. Extra heavy thread is used to ensure against ruptures and blowouts.

Rub Pads And Bumpers
Custom moulded bumpers and aramid-reinforced ‘Sharkskin’ rub pads wherever you need it during set up, launching, landing and packing. Nice.

TPU Double-Seamed Bladders
One is good. Two is better. We use 2 parallel seams on our durable TPU bladders, plus reinforced valve locations. Tough
