Stance interview: Marc Jacobs |
Marc Jacobs is a rider who doesn't make much noise on the interwebs, but who seem to let his actions talk for him:second in the overall rankings on the PKRA right now, he could very probably become world champion one day. The New Zealander owes his success and his level only to one thing: his hard work (to the opposite of manyriders who easily survive on their parent's fat wallet). Winner of the German stop and present on all podiums at the other stops this years, Marc seems to be living a determining season for his carreer. We caught up with him to ask a few questions:
Hey Marc! Could you introduce yourself for the few ignorant people that doesn't' know you ?
My name is marc jacobs I'm 23 years old from new zealand and i've been kiting for 8years
According to you, what is doing the difference this year ? Did you train more this winter ? Something changed into your ride or your mind?
I've starting training alot more in the gym for core strength flexibility work and working on my weakest muscles that kiting doesn't do. i also feel i lot more wiser for competing now.
Since how long are you following the tour ? And what was your best result until St Peter Ording ?
started in 2007 i did four tour stops in 2008 i only did three for 2009 and 2010 i dint compete in any PKRA and i didn't have the funding to do. in 2011 it was my first full year competing on the tour since them i haven't miss a tour stop. my best result in in germany just been.
The level looks pretty sick this year, even your friend Youri Zoon knows some difficulties… How keep on improving your level? Are you adapting your style of riding according to the judging criteria ?
I have become more consistent which is very important for the tour also every year i seem to get more and more powerful i have been training on my legs a lot so i don't break them. i alway lover being a powered rider and i always will be while competing on the PKRA.
I know that you are a funny guy, so let's play : if you become the next world champion, what kind of stupid thing you will do to 'celebrate' ?
Wow thats a good Question i definitely know drinks will be on me all night and the last tour stop..i will have to think off some think stupied haha
