Switch Running Up for awards
http://www.rotoruadailypost.co.nz/news/export-champs-lauded/1879213/
The finalists in the four categories were revealed last week, with the winners to be announced at a gala awards night in Mt Maunganui on June 28.
Switch Kites - with its official base in Kawerau but with staff around the Bay of Plenty and the world - is the only finalist to feature in two categories, namely the Emerging Exporter of the Year and Innovation in Export awards.
The company designs equipment for the sport of kite boarding and manufactures it in factories around the world. It then sells direct to its customers online - thus cutting out the middle man.
Co-owner and designer Daniel Kajavala said the business was now in its third year and things were going well after starting off with a "hiss and a roar".
He said 98 per cent of its sales were export business, with 70 per cent in Europe.

V2 Control bar info

Unfortunately Slingshot or any other swivel will not work. You need a loop to loop connection of the flying line with the mini 5th. This connection stops your flying line from slipping through the swivel and must support your weight. Unfortunately it might get stuck in the quick release. The current quick release hole has only an ID of 5.2 mm and it is a bit tight for the connection to pass safely.
We do have a solution for the new bar and will offer a retrofit for all customers currently owning the V1 and feel it is an important feature to have.
This system will be universal and within 2 minutes you can change your set up to:
1) 100% single flag line
2) current 2 front line depower
3) 100% 5th line flag
4) Suicide mode with all the above
Unfortunately we still do not know when this will be available. Please be assured, the bar project is our top priority and we would love to release the next version as soon as possible. However, we need to be 100% sure the product is thoroughly tested and will work as flawless as our current bar.
Thank you for you understanding.

A Constant-curve LE tubes and struts bringing you more performance.
*No segmented leading edge tubes, leaves no room for kinks or weak spots.
*Constant curve tubes create a stiffer, more stable structure .This makes room for a smaller diameter L.E making things faster and lighter.
*Brings to you superior engineering structure that's aerodynamically clean and efficient.
*Why make angled corners that disrupt airflow.
Overall a faster kite that gets you up wind while others are trying to hold their ground.

Review of the Combat V2
Review of the Combat V2 :

When switch said they were coming out with the V2 version of the Combat I was a little concerned. How were they going to improve on what I felt was pretty much the perfect C kite. On a previous post there were discussions on what team riders would change. I am super stoked to say that the only two things they did change were exactly what I suggested. So of course it makes me feel good that my thoughts on what needed to be changed were in line with the switch R&D team and Mark and Felix.
1. No cam battens- Lets face it. Even though it makes for a super stable feel and great turning, a stiff rod in a kite that gets slammed over and over again will cause damage and fail. Cant really tell the difference without them in there so nice work on keeping the same feel without the battens.
2. Faster turning speed- I got the 11m and it is my main kite because of the wind speed and my weight. Definite improvement in turning speed. It doesn't turn like a 9m but is a lot quicker and more responsive.
Other improvements- More pop when unhooked. Did some unhooked tricks with the kite and got way more lift than with the V1. Had to keep the kite closer to the deck which to me is a +. Always had to keep the V1 a little higher to get the pop and air time I needed. Bigger air hooked in too.
Lag time and stability. It's not that the kite has more lag time just better lag time feel and better power at the end of unhooked tricks. It was easy to out run my V1 on unhooked tricks and there was almost too much lag. I would have to wait sometimes for the kite to power back up. Might just be that the kite sits a little deeper in window but there is just the right amount of power to keep you going after a big unhooked move.
Relaunch. When I crashed the kite it wanted to relaunch instantly.
Still goes upwind great.
All in all its still pretty much the same kite but the tings that need improvement got changed and the things that didn't got left alone.

KITEBOARD FEATURES
The new MJ Comp is developed by Switch Kites especially for the seasoned freestyle rider, for the rider who takes part in world class events and is an expert in performing stunning tricks. The board is designed by the Switch Kites team in collaboration with Marc Jacobs, one of the top PKRA freestyle riders and offers no compromise performance.
The board features a hydrodynamic shape, featuring a straighter outline, which allows it to move fast and offer unmatched agility in a various range of conditions. The curved center plus the wider tips help lift the board higher on the water to provide better control and reduce spray.
A rolled single concave bottom shape, flattening towards the tips, provides increased speed as well as better upwind performance. It also assures a smooth glide and superior stability. The progressive rocker, more pronounced in the core and flattening out towards the tips, allows the board generate excellent speed and acceleration and improves pop response.
The board uses a 3D optimized flex pattern which provides massive pop and better control in landings. The flex is also optimized to make the ride smooth even in challenging conditions. The MJ Comp by Switch Kites has everything you need to take freestyle to a new dimension. The board also has impressive wakestyle potential.

Combat V2
2 years ago the Combat stormed into the competitive freestyle world taking down its competition, stealing centre stage for its stable high powered wake style performance. To keep the Combat scaring the competition we have been working hard to develop the next generation.
Armed with Marc’s experience on the PKRA, our loyal customers' feedback and the latest technologies, we produced the new Combat2.
- It wasn’t easy but we managed to replicate the same crisp performance of abatten with an inflatable wing tip. So now you have the benefits of a single inflation kite and still have that smooth direct drive the Combat is famous for.
The 13m, 15m and 9m have a modified higher aspect platform with longer wingtips to increase boost and efficiency while retaining a proper turning speed.
The 11m profile has been refined to optimize line slack and has slightly faster turning. The 7m was the biggest challenge. After many prototypes we created a kite loop machine that is still stable enough for handle passes in 40 knots.
The wing tips have been reinforced to add rigidity to the new inflatable section while increasing overall strength.
The Combat2 is now wake XXX rated. Can you handle it?
